1.0 OverviewIn a joint operation, Hanover Troop 45 and Lyme Troop 273 will hold a winter fun event at Nunnemacher Cabin located at the Dartmouth Skiway in Lyme, NH. We have the cabin from Friday afternoon, 11 March through Sunday morning, 13 March. Activities during the weekend can include downhill skiing, snowboarding, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking. The evenings will afford time for relaxing, advancement work and games.Saturday is Boy Scout Day at the Skiway! Due to a special arrangement by Daniel Webster Council, all active Boy Scouts can ski for for $5 on Saturday. 2.0 Concept2.1 DescriptionNunnemacher Cabin is located between Papoose and Lyme Drop ski trails on the Holt ledge side of the Skiway. Our meeting place for dropoff and pickup will be at the ski lodge. Those who can meet on time (3:45 pm Friday) can ride the last lift run of the day up Holts Ledge, and have their gear carried up to the cabin by Sno-Cat. If you cannot arrive before 4 pm, you will have to backpack your gear up to the cabin. Once we arrive at the cabin we will organize duty rosters for cooking, cleanup, water supply, fire tending, etc.Activities for Saturday will be organized by patrols and or buddy groups. Each patrol or buddy group departing from the cabin will be required to file an activity plan with the Scoutmaster describing the activity they are planning to undertake and their planned time of return to the cabin. Any group that is leaving the actual Dartmouth skiway property will be accompanied by two adults. Activities will include the following:
Each scout must provide his own "bag lunch" style dinner for Friday night. There will not be enough stove space to cook Friday night. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday will be prepared as a group. All participants will be contribute to the cost of food and all will have their turn to helping prepare meals and clean up. The cabin is equipped with wood heat and a gas stove but no running water. 2.2 Schedule of EventsThere will be two times to meet and join the outing: 1545 on Friday afternoon and 0800 on Saturday morning. General schedule will be as follows: Friday 5 Mar Saturday 6 Mar Sunday 7 Mar 2.3 Expected Conditions and DifficultyThis activity will be conducted at the Dartmouth Skiway, a modern ski area. Nummemacher Cabin is rustic, but safe and comfortable. There is no electricity at the cabin, but it is equipped with wood heat and a gas stove. Sleeping accommodations include thin mattresses and lots of floor space.There is currently a winter storm warning in effect for Friday afternoon into Saturday. We'll get some snow!
