Velvet Rocks Hike -- 4 April 04

1.0 Overview

Troop 45 will conduct at day hike of the Velvet Rocks section of the Appalachian Trail from Hanover to the trail crossing on Trescott Road.

2.0 Concept

2.1 Description

This will be an afternoon hike designed to introduce visiting Webelos Scouts to the Troop outing process and to review the skills, equipment and procedures necessary for safe hiking.

2.2 Schedule of Events

1300 4 Apr 04 -- Meet at the Richard W. Black Community Center
1330 4 Apr 04 -- On the trail after review of safe hiking procedures & land navigation
1430 4 Apr 04 -- Arrive at Velvet Rocks shelter
1515 4 Apr 04 -- Depart Velvet Rocks shelter after snack an activities
1630 4 Apr 04 -- Arrive at Trescott Road parking lot

2.3 Expected Conditions and Difficulty

This should be a fairly easy hike however there may be patches of ice or mud on the trail and there is a chance of rain.
