1.0 Overview

We are biking around Storrs Pond and reviewing biking techniques. This 3-6K ride is appropriate for both beginners and more experienced riders. This 3hr biking trip is a fun, educational experience of quality mountain biking in our own back yard. It will provide opportunities to meet requirements for Cycling Merit Badge and for TF, 2C, and 1C troop activity requirements.

Note that Muster Day begins right after this outing ends.

2.0 Concept

2.1 Description

We will meet at the main entrance to Storrs Pond, and after a safety briefing, take a bike trip around the trails of Storrs Pond as shown on the map. Depending on how fast we go and how much time we have, we may attempt the extension shown. We will stop for lunch before ending at the parking lot.

2.2 Schedule of Events

1130 -- Meet at Storrs Pond parking lot and safety check.
1200 -- Start biking.
1300 -- Regroup.
1400 -- Lunch.
1430 -- Mountain biking skills.
1500 -- Leave Storrs Pond.

2.3 Expected Conditions and Difficulty

3-6K loop with hills, roots and rocks. Be prepared for hot weather and rain.

2.4 Special Requirements

Open to all Scouts, Scouters, and parents. There are no skill prerequisites for this outing.
