and Patrol Olympics -- 3-4 Jun 06 1.0 OverviewAs part of the New Scout Training Program, the troop offers a campout geared specifically to the needs of scouts working on Tenderfoot. This campout meets requirements 1, 2, and 3 for Tenderfoot, and will introduce new scouts to Troop 45 outing procedures. It also offers opportunities to work on other requirements for Tenderfoot and Second Class.In addition to advancement, the outing will include some activities just for fun. This year tenderfoot skills camp is being combined with the "Patrol Olympics." 2.0 Concept2.1 DescriptionWe will meet at Storrs Pond Main Entrance on Saturday morning, and hike the half mile to our campsite at the end of the pond. We will make camp at our site, and engage in training and fun activities for the day. Sunday morning will be a quick pack and go.2.2 Schedule of Events
Saturday, 3 Jun 2.3 Expected Conditions and DifficultyThe hike in to camp is easy on wide trails, but be properly equipped and packed for a hiking approach. There will also be mild physical activity during the events.Check the weather and dress appropriately. Class A uniform is required for travel and for flags; class B otherwise. The campsite is an established site. Fires are permitted but we will be using this outing as an opportunity to learn to use backpacking stoves. 2.4 Special RequirementsOpen to all scouts, scouters, and parents.There are no skills prerequisites for this outing. 3.0 Administration and Logistics3.1 Announcement Date: 10 May 063.1 Closing Date: 31 May 063.3 Costs$3 for food expenses. Bring it to the troop meeting 31 May.3.4 Equipment3.4.1 Individual EquipmentScouts should organize themselves into buddy groups of two or three each. These groups should plan their tentage and lunch and breakfast together. Plan to cook something at each meal. Easy menus can include cooked items like soup for lunch, instant oatmeal for breakfast, and good old ramen noodles and cheese for dinner. Do not bring canned goods or glass containers!
