Canoe Trip on Connecticut River -- 25-29Jun10 1.0 OverviewOur fifth summer Long Trek will be a canoe trip on the Connecticut River from the confluence of the Passumpsic south to the village of Orford. We will camp at establised sites along the way, taking time for fishing and swimming.This outing is an opportunity to work on basic Scout skills, canoeing, swimming, camping, and fishing merit badges.
2.0 Concept2.1 DescriptionWe will drive to the Passumpsic River put-in on Friday, and then paddle south stopping each night at one of the series of campsites along the river. We will arrive at Orford on Tuesday and drive back to Hanover from there.2.2 Schedule of EventsWed 23Jun -- Troop Meeting Aquatic activity safety training.

Tue 29Jun 2.3 Expected Conditions and DifficultyAlthough there is no whitewater along the Connecticut on this route, it is moving water. We must be prepared for summer weather including heat, sun, rain, and bugs. The campsites are established sites. There are two portages around dams.2.4 Special RequirementsOpen to all scouts, scouters, and parents.
