1.0 Overview

The Boston Lot is a tract of undeveloped land owned by the City of Lebanon just east of Wilder Dam. The Boston Lot includes numerous hiking trails, campsites, and the Boston Lot Lake. We'll be visiting the Boston Lot for a fun campout centered on fishing in the Lake.

This outing will provide advancement opportunities for New Scouts who need camping and hiking experience for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class. It will also provide advancement opportunities for Fishing and Fly Fishing Merit Badges.

2.0 Concept

2.1 Description

We will meet at the Boston Lot parking lot at 3pm on Saturday, and hike a short distance in to the lake. After making camp, we will spend the afternoon and early evening fishing. There are plenty of interesting short hikes available for those not fishing. We will camp overnight, and in the morning pack up in order to be back at the parking lot for pickup at noon on Sunday. There will be more fishing in the morning, if we have the time.

2.2 Schedule of Events

Saturday 20Aug
1500 -- Meet at Boston Lot parking lot. Check gear and organize.
1530 -- Hike to the lake and campsite.
1600 -- Flags.
1615 -- Set up camp. Start Fishing!
1800 -- Dinner.
2000 -- Campfire.
2130 -- Lights out.
Saturday 20Aug
0600 -- Early bird fishing.
0800 -- Breakfast.
0900 -- Break camp.
0930 -- Flags.
0945 -- Fishing as time permits.
1130 -- Hike back to parking lot.
1200 -- Pickup at the parking lot.

2.3 Expected Conditions and Difficulty

This should be a relatively easy, fun outing with no special challenges. Nevertheless, it is important to be prepared for the unexpected, and to use this outing as an opportunity to develop skills for more rigorous conditions.

2.4 Special Requirements

Open to all scouts, scouters, and parents. There are no skill prerequisites for this outing.
