Change 2 - 18 Oct - Updated climbing information; see below
1.0 Overview
The Troop 45 Scouts will conduct a mountain bike clinic, rock climbing day and campout on Oct 19-20. Particpants will be able to choose either mountain biking or rock climbing.
2.0 Concept
2.1 Description
The outing will begin on Saturday morning when we will meet at the intersection of Three Mile Road and the Appalachian Trail. We will make a short hike along the AT to a campsite where we will set up camp and prepare for the two simultaneous excursions.
Biking: After a brief bike inspection, we'll tune our bikes and ride on the trails around Moose Mountain and work on technique. We want to Ride, LEARN, and have Safe Fun while building Troop 45 Spirit. Bikers will return to camp for lunch and a short rest; then they will resume riding for the remainder of the afternoon.
Climbing: We have secured permission to climb on the cliffs at Winslow with a few restrictions. After we setup the campsite we will return to the road and drive to the Winslow cliffs for a day of climbing. We will eat lunch at the cliffs and climb more in the afternoon.
Both groups will return to the campsite for dinner and an evening campfire. Sunday morning we will have breakfast, break camp and return to Three Mile Road for pickup/transportation.
